Super-Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi on Wednesday, gave out four hundred and fifty (450), footballs to teenagers in Ajegunle.
This was part of his visit to the newly constructed hostel in his honour, at the Maracana Sports Complex in Ajeromi-Ifelodun local government.
Co-ordinating the young soccer stars whose age ranges from six to seventeen (6-17), Chief Yemi Idowu founder of Cana Sports, said the idea was to inspire the kids and make them improve as soccer stars.
He thanked the Leicester City star Ndidi, for supporting grassroots soccer in Ajegunle.
“We are grateful to have him (Ndidi), show support for the kids, and this will inspire them greatly,” he said.
The coaches in attendance were presented with a football each. They sang and prayed for Wilfred Ndidi as parts of their appreciation.
Highlights of the soccer balls presentation to the teenagers were the cash gift of new naira notes to the kids. The coaches in attendance also received some cash gifts during the soccer balls presentation.
Director General of Sports in Ajeromi-Ifelodun Sports Council MacAnthony Anaelechukwu, who assisted Chief Idowu at the presentation of soccer balls to the young teenagers, also commended Wilfred Ndidi for his kind gesture.
He urged the coaches in attendance to use the moment as inspiration to improve the various football talents in their care.
“This event should motivate the coaches to do more for the kids in their various academies,” he added.
