Ajegunle-born media personality and publisher of Project 3:16 Metro, a grassroots newspaper, Fakunle Sheriff Ekundayo, launched a novel titled ‘Bruised Roses and Broken Thorns’ recently at Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Secretariat.
The occasion was also used to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Project 3:16 Metro newspapers.
The Legislative building in Ajeromi-Ifelodun secretariat was the venue of the launch of ‘Bruised Roses and Broken Thorns’, a book that emphasized on community influence on teenagers and contemporary social ills and their effects on youths.
In the 2 in 1 packed program, Fakunle Sheriff Ekundayo marked the 10th anniversary of his media brand; Project 3:16 Metro. The newspaper has been involved in grassroots journalism with a major focus on education, youth development, social events, and promoting human excellence across communities in Lagos State over the last ten years.
The author who is currently the Chief Press Secretary to the Executive Chairman of Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government, Hon. Fatai Ayoola, mentioned in his speech that his passion for a better society, especially in Ajegunle created the zeal to write the book, and was drawn from his experiences in the community. The book, he said was to save the younger generation from falling apart.
Responding further to questions from journalists, the author Fakunle said:”Citing the care and love some teenagers lack in their home, this needs to be brought to the forefront in order to make relevant authorities take action. We see what is going around every day and it’s important that we save the younger generation from falling apart.
We want to take back our lost culture, folkways, and mores in society and make it better for everyone to understand that these kids have a future and we have to start by taking responsibility as parents.” He said.
Among the dignitaries present at the book launch were: Member, Lagos State House of Assembly representing Ajeromi-Ifelodun Constituency 01, Hon Lukmon Sa’ad Olumoh; Member-elect, Lagos State House of Assembly, Ajeromi-Ifelodun Constituency 02, Hon. Sabur Akanbi Oluwa; Deputy Leader of Ajeromi-Ifelodun LGA Legislative Arm, Hon. Ifeoma Anene, Chief Press Secretaries from Yaba LG, Bariga LG, Ifelodun LG, family members, friends and colleagues within and outside the community, secondary school students and host of well-wishers and supporters.
