There is no other way to describe the political loudness associated with the demands of the people of Egba kingdom in their quest for Senator Olamilekan Adeola to become the next Governor of Ogun State in 2027. The serving senator representing Ogun West has defied the challenges associated with a regular elected public office holder. He is communal growth personified and masses-oriented savvy. His natural demeanour towards ensuring a healthy lifestyle and attainment of basic infrastructural needs for the people has over the years become a reference template for governance at the State and grassroots levels. And despite the relatively traditional politicians who are obnoxiously opposed to the imposing political personality of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola popularly known as Yayi from becoming the next Governor of Ogun State, the obvious political agitation cannot be swept under the carpet, because the movement is real, and the results across Ogun West Senatorial District cannot be over-emphasized writes Fakunle Sheriff Ekundayo
Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as ‘Yayi,’ has been on a journey to becoming the next Governor of Ogun State since his 2003 election into the Lagos State House of Assembly as a lawmaker representing Alimosho constituency II.
The distinguished Senator Adeola was part of the team that enacted the law that catapulted Lagos state’s revenue from a meagre N5 billion monthly to over N20 billion. He was also part of the team that passed the Fiscal Responsibility Act and the Public Procurement Act of Lagos state.
Being a distinguished Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria {ICAN}, the distinguished Senator has demonstrated his economic proficiency necessary in the management of the state coffers for the benefit of the masses. This show of accounting dexterity and financial management has prompted his political rise and appointments from the Lagos State House of Assembly to Federal lawmaker representing Alimosho Federal Constituency and to his present-day capacity as Senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District at the Senate in Abuja.
Senator Yayi has proven over time his ability to discharge the much-needed responsibilities in any capacity that was bestowed on him. This includes the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Public Accounts, 2011-2015. Member of Aids, Loans and Debt Management, Emergency & Disaster Preparedness, Land Transport and Petroleum Resources (Up Stream) Committees, 2019, Chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriations of the 10th Senate on 8 August 2023, among many other appointments as a federal lawmaker.
His insurgence into Ogun State politics was not a coincidence judging by his native ascendancy as an Egba man. And when he was officially certified as a Senator-Elect representing Ogun West Senatorial District on March 7, 2023, the distinguished Senator Olamilekan Solomon Adeola was ready to continue from his landmark stride in Alimosho constituency for the people of Yewa and Ogun West in general.
Two years later, the political loudness is deafening, and the people’s demands must come into reality. Senator Adeola has proved his mettle with life-impacting projects covering health, education, social safety nets, scholarship schemes, youth, and women’s empowerment for the people of Ogun West Senatorial District.
His numerous projects and programs for the people are significantly impactful and measurable. And this has fuelled the agitation further, that Senator Adeola be considered the leading aspirant for the Egba Lokan Agenda 2027.
Although in recent times, there had been element of people with deferring opinion about Senator Adeola’s gubernatorial agitation; who had made public statements denying endorsement of the serving Senator, as the right choice for the Egba L’okan Agenda for 2027, the compelling political stature of Senator Adeola has continued to swell with impacts and influence across the geo-political zones in Ogun West Senatorial District.
Other districts can only ask for a taste of his political generousity once he becomes the party flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress {APC} for the 2027 gubernatorial election in Ogun State.
As it stands, the people of Ogun West have spoken; Senator Adeola is the real deal for Ogun State starting with the 2027 gubernatorial election!
