The Apex leader Lagos-West II, All Progressives Congress for Arewa Community in Lagos State, Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Tanko Auna, has blamed Northern leaders and elders for the ongoing regional instability in northern Nigeria.
In a statement that conveyed the apex leader New Year’s message, Alhaji Auna, condemned actions of the Nigerian politicians and elders over their roles in ‘weakning regional stability, stifling progress, and making Nigeria a target for foreign intervention, notably from the United States of America.’
According to the Arewa Community Forum {ACF}, apex leader Alhaji Auna,:’The current situation contrasts Nigeria’s past, at independence, when the economy was based on stable agricultural activities, with leaders who are focused on nation building and social justice.’
He praised efforts of some notable northern leaders, particularly late Sir Ahmadu Bello the Sarduana of Sokoto, whom he said played crucial and pivotal role in advancing education for the underpriviledged.
He berated the state of the present economy, saying ‘it has collapsed and leaving millions of children without access to quality education and jobs.’
“Many have resorted to the streets, with some being labelled as terrorists due to circumstances beyond their control,” the statement reads.
Alhaji Auna noted that the situation stems from long-term neglect and misappropriation of resources which are used to support criminal activities and political agenda{s}.
“Due to pervasive insecurity, our region is focused solely on survival, hindering the region growth and development whilst other region focused on growth and development,’ the statement reads in part.
The APC chieftain rounded off his New Year message by reminding the leaders and politicians that ‘Allah will judge us all on the day of judgement, when power, wealth, and influence will no longer avail anyone, adding that ‘the message was not borne out of hatred, but out of accountability, love and justice for our people.’
