The National President of Environmental Health Officers Association Officers of Nigeria {EHOAN} Dr Samuel Akingbehin has feared for his life after unraveling an alleged missing $2billion grants meant for environmental purpose in Lagos State.

Speaking with Project 3:16 Metro during an exclusive interview, the environment advocate Mr. Akingbehin, said the threat to his life began after he embarked on a mission to expose the sham surrounding an alleged missing $2billion dollar grant awarded to Lagos State government through  a private foundation.

In his words:  “A $2billion naira grant was awarded in April 2019 before the handover of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode to Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu  Governor of Lagos State,” he began.

“The grant was to be funded by a private foundation in June 2019, which I learnt was missing from the Lagos State government coffers,” he said.

Speaking further, Dr. Akingbehin revealed his action to uncover the truth about the alleged missing $2 billion began the threat to his life.

“I started receiving death threats in the middle of June 2019,” he said.

Dr. Akingbehin claimed further that the 2billion grant from the private foundation was never deposited into the State account, and that the name of the private foundation was never disclosed to the public.

On why he feared for his life and that of his family, Dr. Akingbehin noted that the tone of death threat heightened in June 2019.

“I could no longer sleep in my house, and I was certain that I will be killed soon,” he said.

On why he feels the Lagos State government was complicit in the alleged missing $2billion was that the money was huge and if revealed, could affect the chances of the All Progressives Congress {APC} national leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential election in the near future.

“I will be killed to silence me, especially since Tinubu wants to run for Presidential election in 2023, and Sanwo-Olu would want to run for re-election in the same year,” he noted.

Dr. Akingbehin added that the political terrain in the country Nigeria cannot guarantee his life, because the Lagos State government has the security agencies under their control, hence the reason to flee for safety with his family.

In a bid to hear the part of the Lagos State Ministry of Environment over the alleged missing grant proved abortive, as the public relations officer of the agency could not be reached to ascertain their part of the alleged missing $2billion.
