THE ADMINISTRATION OF GOV. AKINWUNMI AMBODE, Executive Governor of Lagos State has re-instated commitment to build the Maracana Stadium in Ajegunle.
Lagos State Governor addressed the crowd of people at the popular Maracana Stadium, which is populated by Ilaje tribe inside Tolu community of Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Area, Thursday, July 26, 2018, during his On-the-spot assessment of potential communities that needs structural development.
“The proposed multi-purpose sport complex would have facilities such as, football pitch, volley ball court and event centre for children,” he said.
Also the recurrent challenges faced by students in Tolu Schools complex was included as one of the projects that would be tackled by Gov. Ambode led administration.
“I am not happy seeing students in this environment not having the best of facilities, the problem of flood shall be solved very soon in the school,” he submitted.
The number one citizen in Lagos State added that upon completion, the new facility will serve as recreational centre for residents in Ifelodun and Ajeromi environs.
Before the Governor’s address, Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ade Akinsanya had set purpose of the visit in motion, when he outlined features of the newly proposed Maracana stadium. In his words, “The Maracan stadium is expected to be modelled like that of the Onikan Stadium in Lagos –Island which is undergoing construction works.”
According to Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode, he posited that the construction company handling Onikan Stadium shall commence work at Maracana stadium, upon completion of the former which is due for January 2019.
On his part, Executive Chairman of Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Area, Hon. Fatai Adekunle Ayoola commended Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode’s administrative drive in re-instating his commitment to bring State development to Ajegunle. He added thus: “We have heard what our Governor has said, and it is worthy of note to commend him for his effort to building Maracana stadium.”
He went further to appreciate the Governor’s plan of building a Jetty that will link Olodi-Apapa area of Tincan with Tolu community in AJIF LGA.
Hon. Ayoola ended by encouraging the crowd to cast their votes for Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode for a second term as Governor of Lagos State.
