• Photo finish for Conference 57, as endorsement galore take new dimension

THE JAGAN BORGU at Bourdilon is at it again, this time his game of solitaire is making the covetous seat at Alahusa to become fierce and adventurous for the bold to flirt with.

It is an eye catching euphoria to see Lagos State APC leaders and band of Conference 57 endorsing the current Managing Director, Lagos State Property Development Corporation (LSDPC), Mr. Jide Sanwo-olu as the All Progressives Congress (APC) consensus ‘Aspirant’ for the Lagos State Gubernatorial race, judging by the invitation of all Local Government Chairmen to Watercress Hotel owned by former Chief Security Officer to Tinubu, Mr. Tayo Ayinde, so as to fill Sanwo-Olu’s nomination form, according to THISDAY. And irrespective of the incumbent Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode purchase of the APC Governorship nomination form for the September Primaries of the party.

In recent years, global political observers have attributed the rise of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s political legacy to his crafty but generous willingness for ‘Government of inclusion’. This the bespectacled ‘Last Man Standing’ has built over 19 years in Lagos State, and possibly in South-West.

The last minute game in 2011, which saw Asiwaju broke the ice for former Governor of Lagos State, and Minister for Power, Works, and Housing, Mr. Raji Fashola (SAN), to contest for a second term has become a household norm in Lagos State politics when it comes to second term ticket for Governors. However, for His Excellency, Akinwunmi Ambode, the game of solitaire that Jagan Borgu has engaged the shrewd Governor in, has become delicate, saucy and politically unpredictable.

The audacious presentation of Mr. Jide Sanwo-olu, by APC hatchet man, Chief Odumbaku popularly known as ‘Baba-Eto’ as the new flag bearer for APC gubernatorial race, has interpreted the wave of the APC leadership emanating from the War crest of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In view of these, many have accused the incumbent Governor of Lagos State of many sins against the larger than life Asiwaju, and some top politicians, who felt the number one citizen in the State, had rubbished their economic legacies in Lagos State.

It is instructive to note that the Abuja caucus of Lagos APC big boy, Femi Hamzat have also joined the race by purchasing his nomination form. The current Special Adviser to Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN) on Works and Housing is not new to the game, having been a major contender to the covetous seat of power of Lagos in 2015, and it will be interesting to see how these ‘Three Horse Race’ played out.

Political observers are anticipating the next card up the sleeves of Jagaban Borgu in this game of solitaire. And while the people watch with keen interest, the unpredictability of Asiwaju’s predictable resolve to steer APC into a new height in 2019 has just begun. And while Governor Akinwunmi Ambode may not be avowed to rocking the boat of Jagaban Borgu, it should be known that a drowning man will often clutch at a straw, and the seven day adventure of these four masquerades may seem longer than a decade. The people will continue to chin up in this photo finish Lagos drama…but let’s see who blinks first!
