Not many people saw it coming during the Muslim festival; of the second batch cabinet list by His Excellency, Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu.

There had been mild dissatisfaction over the exclusion of Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Area representatives on the first cabinet list that was released by His Excellency, some few weeks ago. And many were anticipating that the remaining slots left would include potential cabinet members from Badagry Division.

It was a shocking revelation when the Deputy Chief Press Secretary {CPS} to the Governor, Gbenga Akosile transmitted final list of nominees to the State House of Assembly without a representative from Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Area.

According to the Governor’s Deputy CPS, he said: “The second list had names of accomplished politicians and technocrats who understand the current need of Lagos and the development agenda of the Governor.”

A cursory look into this submission suggest that our potential representatives in AJIF LGA may not be favoured to be considered as having these qualities that are pre-requisite for making the cabinet list in Lagos State.

To us in AJIF LGA, this is a palace coup that bears the hands of those who knows us, celebrate with us, and kill us behind our back!

The latest revelation of how AJIF LGA is not considered for selection in the Governor’s cabinet list should serve as a wakeup call for our leaders to speak in one voice and embrace unity of purpose for our collective political progression in Ajegunle.

This development has exposed the diary of political skullduggery, horse trading and the trending Pull Him Down {PHD} syndrome that has jeopardized our chances at the top.

To the All Progressives Congress {APC} youths in AJIF LGA, your political destiny is starring at you in the face. You can either wait or allow it to be scuttled with personal gains or you create a new political culture for the collective survival and recognition of AJIF LGA beyond what is known for in recent years.

We should be concerned about the political implication on development; this cabinet list will have on our local government.

Who will speak and advocate for development of AJIF LGA in the new cabinet of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu?

How do we tackle the rising political negative comments on the APC led administration over some developmental needs in the LGA, vis-a-vis  State sponsored projects and programs?

The ministry of Public Works have been mandated to embark on rehabilitation and construction works on some major roads across various local governments in Lagos State, AJIF LGA inclusive. And through the Executive Chairman, Hon. Fatai Adekunle Ayoola, has solicited rehabilitation of Mba-Cardoso road.  And while we are still waiting, who will speak and advocate for the rehabilitation of other State roads and institutional projects in Ajegunle from the cabinet of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-olu?

This is the time for all political youths in AJIF LGA to look beyond the façade of caucuses and embark on the journey of unity for the developmental progress of AJIF LGA politically.

Our local government contributed immensely towards the success of APC victory at the Federal, State and Local level. We demand equal recognition and active participation in the new government of His Excellency, Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu.

This Commissioner hoax is beyond a jinx in AJIF LGA. It’s now laughable that after 24 years of creation, AJIF LGA is still grappling with the thought of getting a commissioner slot. Where did we get it wrong in Ajegunle?

This is the time for our leaders to imbibe quality of a broom. Ironically, that is the symbol of our party, APC.  We’ll be respected only when we speak in one voice and push forward our preferred representatives in Lagos State administration.

Hon. Fatai Adekunle Ayoola, the Executive Chairman of AJIF LGA has constitutionally mandated responsibilities to the electorate in Ajegunle. He must be made to concentrate and deliver the ‘deliverables’ to the people under his Four-Point agenda.

The Council Chairman’s infrastructural drive in the area of quality education, health, youth development and women emancipation, infrastructure and security must not be made to go through the knife of victimization. He cannot be a solitary advocate for grassroots development in Ajegunle, he needs other ‘helping hands’ in Lagos State administration in order to actualize comprehensive dividends of democracy at the doorsteps of the masses.

This is not the political future we desired for in Ajegunle. We must rise to the occasion and become an active player at State level of the All Progressives Congress {APC}.

The term ‘accomplished politicians’ and ‘technocrats’ are two satirical conditions that have humbled the accomplishment of notable politicians in AJIF LGA. And if these conditions as stated by the Governor’s Deputy CPS were anything to go by, then our youths must begin the journey of self-development and active political participation beyond the shores of AJIF LGA.

Even though we understand the handwriting on the wall that the non-inclusion of AJIF LGA representatives in the Governor’s cabinet list was beyond these conditions postulated by the Deputy CPS Akosile, we’ll sit back and strategize for 2023!
