The Street meeting organized by concerned residents of Layinka and other neighbouring streets continue to raise awareness on the spate of insecurity inside Aiyetoro community in Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Area.


The meeting which involves residents of the community saw the concerned group assembled at Layinka Street as participants bare their minds on how some of the streets in Aiyetoro community have become unattractive and dangerous to dwell in the LGA.


One of the conveners of the Street meeting, Hon. Adebao Alawiye said the movement is necessary as most residents have begun to evacuate their families from the community over the fear of being attacked and robbed by hoodlums.


“This community is no longer safe, and we are recording victims on a daily basis, so it’s high time we rose to the occasion and stop these boys,” he said.


After some of the participants at the meeting expressed their grievances and inability of the police to come to their rescue, they proceeded on a protest march to the palace of Ba’ale Saheed Adesegun Fakunle, Ba’ale of Aiyetoro, where they tabled their displeasure at the continuous menace street urchins inside Aiyeroro community.


Leading the delegation, Mr. Moshood popularly known as H02 wanted Ba’ale Saheed Fakunle to prevail on the Executive Chairman of Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government and the Divisional Police Officer of the Nigerian Police attached to Ajeromi Divisional Headquarter.


He said: “I’m aware that there is an effort by the community currently going on, we (aiyetoro community) cannot solve the problem of insecurity alone, the Ba’ale and other stakeholders need to be called and involve the local government and other government institutions in ensuring that we have a crime free community.”


He added that it would be an injustice to the youth if the community and relevant authorities failed to call the attention of government to the challenges of unemployment, poverty and anti-poor policies.


Another resident who spoke, Mr. James, was of the opinion that the group have resolved to lynch any hoodlums caught robbing people of their valuables in the community.

Bet Naija investor, Mr. Wasiu Animashaun popularly known as Wazzy appealed to the group. He want residents to be on the alert in their various households. He said the concerned residents must work in unity in order to rid-off social miscreants from the community.


“Let’s not forget that these boys also rob at daylight. I will implore every one of us to be on the look-out for them in our street and households,” he said.


Responding to the group, Ba’ale Saheed Adesegun Fakunle said residents should not take laws unto their hands, but must be ready to defend themselves when the need arises.

“If these boys surrendered during attack, do not lynch them, but hand them over to the police,” he added.


He promised the group that he was going to deliver their messages to the Council Chairman and that the state of insecurity in the community is gradually under control.

“Myself and some concerned members of our community have been ensuring that any of the boys caught are always convicted at the court of law,” he added.


The protest march saw the group walked through Bara Street and other neighbouring environs as part of social awareness to stop the indiscriminate lawlessness by teenagers inside Aiyetoro community of Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Area.
